does that version of jjos cost money?

  • karlharleman says:

Isn’t this OS pretty worthless? You buy an MPC to get that hands on feel! If I wanted to program drums like this, I could’ve saved my self a lot of money and done it on my comp!

    yep

u crazy..this is 11000 percent way better than akai os..if you know how to use the normal mpc os this will blow yo mind..

  • karlharleman says:

Yeah, there’s way more possibilities. But also, I think a lot of JJ users just end up hurting their necks stairing at the tiny LCD, fiddling with fancy detail work, like in a DAW (but with a much small screen).

Getting away from a monitor and the fiddling is a huge part of why I got my MPC.

But I’m a hypocrite because I ran JJ OS on my 1000. And I’m now buying a 2500 with JJ OS Xl..

But really, the only JJ features I need are:
    - the improved load/save mode,
    - pitch shifting and timestretching,
    - the improved track mute mode
    - (and pong :P )

depends on how you look at it. i personally use the grid for math based poly rhythems and some more complex beats. my fingers tend to lay down the foundation but thats just how i work. if you just make simple hiphop beats or if youre an avid epad drummer this is worthless. but never be narrow and ignore an addition to an already amazing mpc. keep this stuff comin JJ!
